Equipment

- Meat Thermometer
- Can opener
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (4-5 pounds)
- 1 can (12 ounces) beer
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp of your favorite chicken seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Open the beer can and pour out (or drink!) half of it.
- Mix salt, black pepper, and chicken seasoning together, then rub the mixture all over the chicken.
- Carefully place the chicken on the beer can, ensuring it's sitting upright, with the can in its cavity.
- Place the beer can chicken on the grill or in the oven. Cook for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when a meat thermometer is inserted into the thickest part of the breast.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the grill or oven (remember, the can is hot!). Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before removing the beer can and serving.
Notes
Ensure your beer can is stable before placing the chicken on it. For extra safety, you can use a “beer can chicken” stand. Always remember to check the internal temperature to ensure the chicken is cooked through.
