Equipment
- Mixer
- Two 8-inch square cake pans
- Parchment Paper
- Cooling rack
- Serrated knife
- Spatula
- Green food coloring
Ingredients
For the cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
For the frosting:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
- Green food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 8-inch square cake pans and line them with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat all the cake ingredients together on low speed for 30 seconds, then on high speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
- Pour equal amounts of the batter into the cake pans. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to a cooling rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
- While the cakes are cooling, make the frosting. In a medium bowl, mix powdered sugar and butter with spoon or electric mixer on low speed. Stir in vanilla and 2 tablespoons of the milk, adding more if needed to achieve a smooth, spreadable consistency. Add green food coloring until you reach a "Minecraft grass" shade.
- Once the cakes are cooled, level the tops with a serrated knife. Frost the top of one layer, then stack the other layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Use a knife to gently score the frosting into squares, creating a pixelated Minecraft look.
Notes
To create a more authentic Minecraft look, consider adding fondant decorations such as a Creeper face or Minecraft tools.
You can also use chocolate squares in your recipe, as in the image. This makes it much easier to pixel format your artwork.
Our Pixel-Perfect Minecraft Cake is a delightful way to bring gaming joy to your kitchen. It’s sure to be a hit at any party, making the day extra special for your little gamers and their friends. Have fun with it and let your creative spirit shine!
