Cornmeal bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup (tea) cornmeal
- 1/2 cup (tea) of sugar flour
- 1 cup (tea) wheat flour
- 50 ml of milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp of margarine
- 1 tsp of cake yeast
- 10 grams of fennel (optional)
Instructions
- First, place the wheat, flour, yeast and sugar in a bowl. Once this is done, mix the ingredients and also add the margarine or unsalted butter.
- Soon after, mix until it looks like a farofa. Once that's done, add the milk little by little until the dough is just right (not too crumbly, but not too soft either).
- After that, also add the fennel, if you choose it in your recipe and mix the dough well again.
- Now, make balls with the dough (approximately 45 grams) and place them in an already greased shape. Once this is done, lightly crush the balls so that they are flatter, with the appearance of bread.
- Finally, pass some of the egg yolk on the dough with a brush, take the dough to a preheated oven at 180º for approximately 25 minutes, it will be golden on top and it's ready.
Remembering that fennel is optional for this recipe, you can make cornmeal cake with fennel just by adding this ingredient, which will give it a very special touch and aroma that the staff here on the team really likes. However, you can also add other ingredients to the recipe and make a cornmeal bread with guava for example, it will be delicious.
